Television Sets
Television sets today come in a bewildering array of shapes and sizes.
While small screens are still available, the trend is towards
larger, flatter screens with full digital functionality.
There have
also been changes in the way TVs sound, with some sets having
detachable speakers, stereo sound and even DTS or Dolby Digital
surround sound. If you're investing in a home cinema kit you'll
probably want to run your TV's sound through an A/V receiver and
speakers, in which case your TV speakers won't be so important.
Whatever other equipment you run through your TV, you'll want to
make sure that it's fully compatible - if your DVD player has a
component video or S-video output, make sure your TV has the
corresponding input - and that you have enough input and output
sockets for all your audiovisual needs.
