Plasma Television

Plasma televisions can deliver exceptionally sharp pictures and take up considerably less space than conventional television sets.

The image is delivered through a slim plasma display panel, consisting of two glass plates with a 0.1-millimetre space between them through which a special gas (plasma) filters.

The gas is excited by an electric pulse to give off ultraviolet rays, which in turn excite red, green and blue phosphors to generate an image.

When a video signal enters a plasma display, a series of processors determines how much electric charge should be applied across the various areas of the screen to generate the proper image.

The charges excite the gas and the gas emissions of ultraviolet rays excite the phosphors to glow. The end result is an image similar to that of a standard cathode ray tube television.

Plasma displays are slim and lightweight and the screen is perfectly flat viewable from any angle.
