DLP vs Plasma TVs
There are several advantages to buying a DLP TV versus a plasma TV.
- Lower price to screen size ratio.
- The cheapest plasma TVs are NOT
high definition, but enhanced definition, or EDTV. Most EDTVs can
display 480p maximum resolution, the same as progressive scan DVD.
- Potentially longer television life on a DLP TV vs. plasmas.
- Plasma televisions reportedly lose brightness down the road more
quickly than other big screen TV technologies.
- No image burn in worries (XBOX, PS2, etc.)
- Most DLP TVs at least have a built-in NTSC tuner (standard,
non-digital TV), unlike most plasma TV monitors. Either way, you
will need to add an HDTV tuner to view HDTV programming.
- Some DLP TV models will allow you to connect your PC and use your DLP
TV as a HUGE COMPUTER MONITOR.
N.B. We don't recommend using a plasma TV for you PC due to image
burn-in issues.
